Well after my 12 hour days, I have been trying to get in shape by going to the gym to do 30 minutes of cardio - treadmill, elliptical and bike. Also, I have started doing situps and boy does it hurt to laugh these days!!! My abdominal muscles haven't ached like this in a good while...
Had a good workout session tonight! It is harder to workout after work the second and third day of working 12 hours shifts back to back. My motivation is to get results!!! Oh not to forget my few minutes in the sauna that are very relaxing after a hard days work!!! And soooo worth it!!
When I was a little younger, this was the regular routine. I loved working out for 1 to 2 hours at least 4 days a week. To maintain that exercise routine, it really does take a lot of discipline. We all can get lazy, very easily. Anyway, it's just wonderful to be able to stay motivated.
Fitness is the key to a long and healthy life!!

A word about running
Well we all know physical fitness is important. It's not only good for your heart but, did you know that a cardiovascular workout has been known to prevent forms of dementia? Working out is good for our level of happiness too.Physical activity has been known to decrease episodes of depression, in some. It just makes us feel good to get those endorphins going. I hope to do a lot more running in the future. To challenge myself and run longer distances. It also is great to be outdoors and run.
Sometimes I take my dogs with me on hikes and other times I'll just get on the treadmill, depending on the day. It helps to relieve a lot of stress from the week. Clears my head from all the "clutter." So get out there and run.
Or hike. Walking is good too. Challenge yourself. See how far you can go. You will surprise yourself. As I will. See you on the trails. : )
