Skin

What can I tell you about your skin that you haven't already heard?
What can you learn about your skin?
It's the biggest organ in your body.
To have beautiful skin, you can follow the recommended regimen below:

  • drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day to hydrate your skin
  • have a balanced diet that includes antioxidants (vitamins A, C, E and selenium) to increase immunity and healing
  • take a multivitamin to supply skin with essential vitamins and minerals
  • limit sugars in your diet to decrease inflammation
  • eat a moderate amount of lean protein to repair and heal skin tissues
  • eat foods that contain plenty of fatty acids for proper lubrication of cells
Recommended foods for optimal skin health are as follows:
broccoli, spinach, kale, halibut, cod, red peppers, citrus fruits, strawberries, cantaloupe, tomatoes, almonds, asparagus, avocados, olives, sunflower seeds, nuts, garlic, poultry, chickpeas, pinto beans, salmon, mackerel, oats, flaxseeds
Also, important to note is your skin's ability to absorb chemicals from beauty products that you may use, some beneficial and others that are not. Read the labels and be a selective consumer. Become educated on your environment.
Hope you have a beautiful week!

Express yourself

Don't hold back.
Don't wait for your life to begin.
Speak out!
Speak your mind! Tell us what you want!
You'll be glad you did!
Then your light can shine.

Be clear!
With open, honest communication,
relationships are more meaningful!
Sometimes it may be difficult to be honest with ourselves!
Sometimes we don't understand our feelings!
It may take a little practice,
but with each step, it will get easier.
So go ahead! Tell me what you like!
I'm all ears!

Picture perfect

The water looks so inviting! Great for a swim!
It's so relaxing to sit around the pool on a lazy afternoon.
It makes you appreciate the days a little more.
It must have been 75 degrees yesterday.
And that is exactly what I did on my day off!
Just loved it!
Well tomorrow's another day and I have to work.
The summer seems to fly by!
But if I can, I will relish every moment I can,
relaxing in the summer sun!
To end this note to you,
I will add one of my original art pieces below!
The inspiration, would you believe, a bar of soap! :)

Quote of the Day

The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.

Tumeric and all that spice!

Tumeric and cumin spice is a natural anti-inflammatory. According to some physicians and scientists, they believe that disease is due to an inflammatory process (ie. cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, obesity, allergies, premature aging and chronic fatigue syndrome). One example would be when you eat sugar and your body tries to metabolize refined sugar.  Inflammation causes injury at the cellular level. An anti-inflammatory diet is rich in nutrients. An antioxidant rich diet will help restore proper balance. Foods rich in antioxidants include:  berries, grapes, oranges, pomegranate, pineapple, kiwi fruit, lemon, ginger, beets, spinach, parsley, red cabbage, peppers, pinto beans, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts and sunflower seeds. Raw, organic produce is by far the best choice.
Perricone diet

Avoid foods like:
  • Alcohol
  • Soda (even diet soda)
  • Pizza
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Sugar
Embrace foods that include antioxidants, proteins, and omega-3 fatty acids like:
  • Wild salmon and fish
  • Berries
  • Eggs
  • Turkey
  • Olive oil
Additionally, drink 8 glasses of water per day to remain sufficiently hydrated.
And see how good you will feel!

Good nite all! Hope everyone had a Happy Father's Day weekend!

The color of blue

Blue can be a soothing color, like that of the sea. It can remind you of a peaceful place, calm and serene.
For home decorating, it is recommended that you have the color of blue in your entryway. Even a water fountain is a good idea, to represent the chi or energy, as you enter the home.
Feng shui is living in balance and harmony.

Heart of hearts!

Everyday is a wonder. From the beginning of this blog I have said that! I learn things everyday from loved ones, family and friends and even strangers. The deep felt emotions are in part due to my experiences with my job as a nurse and also my deep affection for ones close to me. I can not find the words to convey every emotion that I have, only that I am so thankful for each day because it is truly a blessing. I am thankful for everything! Gratitude brings much joy in my heart and my life is richer for it! It's okay if I make mistakes! It's okay if I'm not perfect! The more I learn, the more I learn how much I don't know! But that's okay to! It makes me more curious about life, about others, how they view the world, and I learn how similar all of us really are in our hopes and dreams for our families and our futures. I only wish everyone could be safe, happy and full of love! You might say I have a big heart! But that's why I'm a nurse! I'm mushy! okay, I admit it! My heart is speaking to you! There's not enough happiness in the world! I'd like to make it a little happier! A little brighter for someone! a child! a parent! a single mom or dad! a sister! an aunt! a grandfather! It doesn't matter! All that matters is to bring more joy in the world! what could be more wonderful than that!
Good night and have a great Tuesday!

June blooms

Flowers are in bloom
Somehow the images of flowers lift our spirit;
They add beauty to our world;
The flowers can be seen as living art!
They also inspire us!
Have a lovely Sunday and
happy moments with all your families!
